Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Job Description
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of mechanical equipment across Qatar Steel’s production facilities.
The role involves preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of heavy industrial machinery, rotating equipment, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
The engineer works closely with production and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime and improve plant availability.
The position also supports maintenance planning, root-cause analysis, shutdown activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities for mechanical equipment.
Inspect machinery and identify mechanical faults, wear, vibration, and abnormal operating conditions.
Coordinate corrective maintenance and emergency breakdown activities.
Perform root-cause analysis of recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain pumps, compressors, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and other plant machinery.
Prepare maintenance work orders, technical reports, and equipment history records.
Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance without unnecessarily affecting production.
Monitor spare-parts requirements and coordinate with stores and procurement teams.
Support major plant shutdowns, overhauls, inspections, and equipment commissioning.
Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety and engineering standards.
