Hamad International Airport (HIA) is Qatar’s principal international airport and the home hub of Qatar Airways. The airport is managed and operated by MATAR, Qatar Company for Airports Management and Operation, a corporate subsidiary of Qatar Airways Group operating under a contractual agreement with the Government of Qatar. HIA officially opened in 2014 and has developed into a major global aviation hub, combining passenger services, airport operations, commercial facilities, cargo operations, hospitality, and international connectivity. MATAR is responsible for the airport’s day-to-day management as well as areas such as expansion projects, asset management, commercial activities, airline business development, environmental sustainability, and international airport projects.
