Furnace / Melt Shop Operator

Job Description

The Furnace / Melt Shop Operator is responsible for supporting safe and efficient furnace and melt shop operations in a steel manufacturing environment.
The role involves monitoring production equipment, operating process controls, observing furnace conditions, and maintaining stable operating parameters.
The operator works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams to ensure consistent production and compliance with operational procedures.
The position requires strict adherence to safety procedures because of high temperatures, molten metal, heavy machinery, and other industrial hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor furnace and melt shop equipment according to established procedures.
Monitor process parameters such as temperature, material flow, pressure, and production conditions.
Observe furnace and equipment conditions and report abnormalities immediately.
Support charging, melting, tapping, slag handling, and other melt shop activities as assigned.
Follow standard operating procedures to maintain stable and efficient production.
Coordinate with control-room operators, supervisors, maintenance, and other production personnel.
Conduct routine equipment checks and report mechanical or electrical abnormalities.
Maintain accurate production, process, inspection, and operating records.
Follow all PPE, hot-work, emergency response, and industrial safety requirements.
