Job Description

The Petroleum Geologist is responsible for evaluating subsurface geological information to identify and assess potential hydrocarbon resources. The role involves interpreting seismic, well-log, core, and geological data to develop reliable geological models. The position supports exploration and development decisions by assessing prospects, reservoirs, and geological risks. The role also works closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, drilling teams, and other technical specialists.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret geological, geophysical, seismic, well-log, and core data to evaluate hydrocarbon prospects.
Develop and maintain regional and field-scale geological models.
Conduct subsurface mapping and identify potential traps, reservoirs, seals, and source rocks.
Evaluate exploration prospects and estimate potential hydrocarbon resources.
Integrate well data with seismic interpretations to improve subsurface understanding.
Provide geological input for well planning, drilling targets, and exploration programs.
Analyze drilling results and update geological interpretations based on new information.
Prepare geological reports, maps, technical presentations, and prospect evaluations.
Participate in well-site geological operations and provide geological support during drilling activities.
Coordinate with geophysics, reservoir engineering, drilling, and production teams on integrated studies.
Assess geological uncertainties and risks associated with exploration and development opportunities.
Maintain accurate geological databases and ensure technical documentation is properly updated.
