Financial Operations Manager
Job Description
What You’ll Be Working On
- Develop and present to the Product Leadership team reusable cost models for new initiatives, influencing product decisions and providing input to business cases
- Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports/analysis of cloud spend, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency
- Build a culture focused on cost optimization and sustainable growth
- Develop a set of best practices and governance to ensure the technical optimization of cloud and third-party services to ensure costs are optimized
- Collaborate closely with the Cloud Operations, Product Engineering, and Product Management teams to understand cloud usage patterns and identify areas for cost optimization
- Partner with Product Engineering teams to drive cost-effective decisions, design cost projection models, analyze costs to understand root causes and lead critical projects to improve cost allocation efficiency
- Work cross-functionally to establish chargeback and show back models for cloud costs
- Model out costs and impact to Cost to serve (CTS) and margins
- Recommend, track, and report on cost optimization opportunities
- Implement and maintain financial governance and controls across cloud platforms
- Own and evolve our reservations and commitments strategy
- Establish and tracking cloud cost optimization KPIs
What You Bring To The Role
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology field, finance field or equivalent work experience
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including FinOps management in public cloud cost and optimization
- Strong knowledge of Cloud service providers (ideally AWS and/or GCP/Azure) and their consumption models and billing concepts
- Experience in building financial models including accounting treatment, budgeting and forecasting
- Advanced data, analytical and interpretation knowledge, modelling and defining meaningful KPIs related to technical and cloud expenditure
- Ability to create new business insights from concept through to delivery
- Familiarity with Agile environments (epics / stories / acceptance criteria)
- Tech-savvy or quick learner to adapt to AI tools and a fast-paced tech landscape.
