Plant IT Network Infrastructure & Edge Gateway Engineer

Job Description

The Plant IT Network Infrastructure & Edge Gateway Engineer will manage network infrastructure supporting manufacturing facilities, industrial systems, and plant-level digital services. The role will focus on reliable connectivity between enterprise IT systems and operational technology environments while maintaining appropriate security controls. The engineer will configure and monitor switches, routers, firewalls, industrial gateways, and edge computing devices. The position will collaborate with IT, OT, automation, cybersecurity, and production teams to maintain secure and highly available plant connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, configure, and maintain plant network infrastructure and connectivity.
Manage industrial switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, and network appliances.
Configure and maintain edge gateways connecting plant equipment and digital platforms.
Monitor network availability, performance, latency, and connectivity issues.
Troubleshoot network failures affecting manufacturing and operational systems.
Implement network segmentation between enterprise IT and industrial OT environments.
Support secure communication between machines, sensors, servers, and enterprise applications.
Maintain IP addressing, VLANs, network diagrams, configuration backups, and documentation.
Apply network security controls, access restrictions, and approved configuration standards.
Support installation and commissioning of new plant networking and edge devices.
Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to investigate suspicious network activity.
Participate in infrastructure upgrades, disaster recovery, and network resilience initiatives.
