Safety Officer

Job Description

The Safety Officer is responsible for supporting a safe working environment across Qatar Steel’s industrial and operational areas.
The role involves monitoring workplace activities, identifying hazards, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with company HSE procedures and applicable regulations.
The Safety Officer works closely with employees, supervisors, contractors, and management to promote safe working practices.
The position also supports incident investigations, safety training, emergency preparedness, risk assessments, and continuous improvement of safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct routine workplace inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
Monitor compliance with company HSE policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Conduct job safety analyses and assist with workplace risk assessments.
Support investigations of accidents, near misses, incidents, and unsafe occurrences.
Recommend corrective and preventive actions following safety inspections and investigations.
Monitor permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, confined-space, hot-work, and other safety procedures.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness sessions for employees and contractors.
Verify appropriate use of personal protective equipment across operational areas.
Support emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency response preparedness.
Maintain safety inspection records, incident reports, corrective-action records, and HSE documentation.
