Midwife / Labour & Delivery Nurse

Job Description

The Midwife / Labour & Delivery Nurse provides comprehensive nursing and maternity care to women during labour, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
The position supports mothers throughout the childbirth process while monitoring maternal and fetal health.
The role involves assisting physicians and midwives during normal and complicated deliveries and responding to obstetric emergencies.
The nurse also provides education, emotional support, breastfeeding guidance, and post-delivery care to mothers and newborns.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor mothers throughout labour and assess maternal and fetal well-being.
Monitor fetal heart rate, contractions, vital signs, and other clinical parameters.
Prepare patients, delivery rooms, instruments, and equipment for childbirth.
Assist obstetricians and midwives during vaginal and assisted deliveries.
Support emergency management of obstetric complications and coordinate rapid medical intervention.
Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and other treatments.
Provide immediate newborn care, including initial assessment and stabilization.
Document labour progress, delivery details, medications, and patient outcomes accurately.
Educate mothers about breastfeeding, newborn care, postpartum recovery, and warning signs.
Maintain strict infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety standards.
