Laboratory Technologist

Job Description

The Laboratory Technologist performs diagnostic laboratory testing on blood, urine, tissue, and other clinical specimens to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
The role requires accurate specimen handling, laboratory analysis, quality control, and proper documentation of test results.
The technologist operates laboratory instruments and follows established procedures, safety standards, and quality management systems.
The position works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure reliable and timely diagnostic information.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect, receive, identify, and process patient specimens according to laboratory procedures.
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests as assigned.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory analyzers and diagnostic equipment.
Conduct quality-control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
Analyze specimens and verify laboratory findings before releasing results.
Maintain accurate laboratory records, test reports, and patient information.
Identify abnormal or critical results and promptly communicate them to authorized medical staff.
Follow laboratory safety, infection-control, chemical-handling, and waste-disposal procedures.
Perform equipment troubleshooting and report technical problems when necessary.
Maintain adequate laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables and monitor their expiry dates.
